The layers panel in Figma and other design tools allows users to get a high-level view of the structure of their pages, and quickly find and select components. A layers panel in Makeswift would provide the same user experience.

We are also planning on releasing an embedded components API, which would allow teams to have components on a page that are not visually placed on the page. Without a layers panel, it would be difficult for users to select and configure these new types of embedded components.
