Currently only pages created inside of Makeswift are visually editable. Many users will often have hardcoded pages in their host that they don't want to fully expose to Makeswift users (i.e. Terms of service), but they still want them to be shown alongside Makeswift pages and possibly contain editable regions.
The first step, and separate feature, is to display all pages, both hardcoded and created in Makeswift, in the page navigation sidebar. Then developers can add editable regions to hardcoded pages, allowing users on their team to visually edit and add content to these regions.
